TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES
• Texas Tech has now scored in 242-straight games dating back to the 1997 season, a streak that ranks 11th nationally and second in the Big 12 Conference.• Texas Tech's 518 yards of total offense marked its 62nd-straight game with at least 325 yards of total offense, the longest active streak in the FBS.
• A late Kris Williams fumble recovery helped the Red Raiders head into the half at a 28-28 tie following a four-yard touchdown pass to Justin Stockton. Texas Tech is now averaging 26.2 first-half points per game this year after scoring at least 24 points in seven of 10 games this year.
• Texas Tech was previously a perfect 4-0 under head coach Kliff Kingsbury when tied heading into halftime. The Red Raiders had already one one game this year when tied at the half which came Oct. 29 at TCU.
• This is the fourth-straight season where Texas Tech and Oklahoma State have recorded at least 30 points each. The two teams combined for 123 points a year ago which at the time marked the most in Texas Tech history.
• Texas Tech once again failed to hurt itself through penalties as the Red Raiders were flagged just three times for 15 yards. The Red Raiders have committed just eight penalties for 34 yards over the last three games.
• Texas Tech recovered its second onside kick of the season with 9:20 remaining in the game as place kicker Michael Barden jumped on the loose ball at the OSU 46 yardline.
MAHOMES RECORDS 12TH RUSHING TOUCHDOWN, MOST EVER BY A TEXAS TECH QUARTERBACK
• Patrick Mahomes II recorded his 11th rushing touchdown of the season on a four-yard scamper with 2:14 remaining in the first quarter. It broke the single-season school record for a Texas Tech quarterback, snapping the previous mark of 10 rushing touchdowns that was set by Rodney Allison in 1976. He later added a seven-yard touchdown scamper late in the third quarter.
• This is the 15th game (out of 23) since the start of the 2015 season where Mahomes has had at least one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown in a contest which is the most for a FBS quarterback during that span, according to ESPN Stats and Info.
• Mahomes finished 34-of-51 for 344 yards and three touchdowns through the air while adding 33 yards and two touchdowns off 15 carries on the ground. It marked the sixth time this season where Mahomes has accounted for at least five touchdowns in a game.
• Mahomes extended his streak of consecutive games with a TD pass to 26, tied with DeShaun Watson for the longest active streak in the FBS.
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
• Derrick Willies put together one of his best performances of the season as he caught four passes for 50 yards. Each of his four receptions went for at least nine yards.• Jonathan Giles surpassed the 1,000 yard receiving mark early in the second quarter as he hauled in a 24-yard pass from Mahomes. Giles finished with five catches for 77 yards, giving him 1,059 receiving yards this season, 40 shy of Wes Welker's 2003 total of 1,099 that ranks 10th in Tech single-season history.
• Dylan Cantrell hauled in his sixth touchdown grab of the season on a four-yard strike from Mahomes with 11:23 remaining in the second quarter. Cantrell ended the afternoon with eight catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.
• Paul Banks III forced the first fumble of his career with 2:01 remaining before halftime. Kris Williams recovered the fumble, the first recovery of his career.
• Mason Reed made a pair of key catches for the Red Raiders late in the third quarter as he hauled in a 24-yard pass from Mahomes and then added a 23-yard reception moments later. The two catches set up a seven-yard rushing touchdown from Mahomes that pulled Texas Tech within a deficit of 38-35.
• Jordyn Brooks recorded his first career sack to start Oklahoma State's second drive of the game. Brooks finished with three tackles before leaving the game early.
• Clayton Hatfield connected on his 10th field goal of the season with a successful 27-yard attempt with 9:23 remaining in the game. Hatfield is now 10-of-11 on field goal attempts this year and 24-of-27 over his career. His 24 career field goals are four shy of entering the top-10 in Tech career history.
• Demarcus Felton recorded his best rushing effort since prior to Big 12 play as he carried 10 times for 77 yards. It marked his most rushing yards during Big 12 play this year.
• Luke Stice's first career sack came at a crucial moment for the Red Raider defense as it helped Texas Tech force an Oklahoma State punt with 6:38 remaining in the game.
