Soccer Inks 11 On 2017 National Signing Day

Texas Tech adds 11 future Red Raiders to the soccer program on Wednesday’s National Signing Day.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech soccer head coach Tom Stone and his staff announced the signing of 11 future Red Raiders to national letters of intent on Wednesday, Feb. 1, the first day of the spring signing period.

It is the second-most Stone has signed at Texas Tech, who will begin his 11th season at the helm of the Red Raider soccer program in 2017. The signing class will look to continue Tech's streak to six-straight NCAA Championship berths.

This year's group includes seven highly-touted players from inside the state's borders, including the No. 1 ranked player in Texas. The Red Raiders also welcome in a strong group of four from California, Colorado, Missouri and Canada. Two members of the class come from the same high school & club programs at Southlake Carroll High School & Dallas Texans, while another trio play together on the Albion Hurricanes FC squad.

The 2017 class helps reload the Texas Tech offense with three forwards and four midfielders, while adding to a strong defensive core with three defenders and one goalkeeper.

ALEXANDRIA GRIFFIN
Forward – Southlake, Texas / Southlake Carroll HS / Dallas Texans
Alexandria Griffin is a dynamic forward who has been electric at the high school and club soccer level, earning a No. 1 ranking in the state of Texas and 12th in the nation by MaxPreps.com. Last season, she earned First Team All-America honors from TopDrawerSoccer.com, as well as Dallas Morning News Offensive Player of the Year after producing a school-record 49 goals. Griffin's goal total shattered the previous mark by 14, as she recorded at least one tally in 22 of 25 games, helping the Dragons to a 23-2 record. She notched eight hat tricks, while also serving up 12 assists in 2016. In both 2015 & 2016, Griffin was invited to the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) Nike National ID-2 Training Camp by U.S. Soccer, which featured the top female youth soccer players form across the country. She was also honored Texas 5-6A District MVP for her record-breaking season.

KIRSTEN DAVIS
Forward – St. Louis, Missouri / Westminster Christian Academy / St. Louis Scott Gallagher
Kirsten Davis is another strong forward who had a fantastic year last season. The Missouri native racked up 37 goals, including seven game-winners, and seven assists in 2016 for Westminster Christian Academy. She's been honored with three All-State, All-Conference and All-District awards over the last three years, including First Team accolades in all three in 2016. Last year she also received All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and TopDrawerSoccer.com. Her experience also carries over to the national level, as Davis has also been a staple on the U.S. Soccer U-18, U-19 and U-20 teams, earning several call-ups over the past two years. During that time, she has played in international tournaments in Honduras and Belfast, Ireland, with U.S. Soccer.

MARISSA ZUCCHETTO
Goalkeeper – Mississauga, Ontario, Canada / St. Joan of Arc Secondary School / Unionville Milliken Soccer Club
Marissa Zucchetto is also no stranger to the national scene, representing Canada on the U-15 and U-17 teams over the last several years. In 2014, she helped the U-15 Canada squad to the CONCACAF gold medal, while securing bronze in the 2016 event with the U-17 team. At the 2016 CONCACAF games, Zucchetto posted a clean sheet in net in a 7-0 rout of Grenada. Six months later, she represented Canada at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Jordan, where she started one match in goal, a 3-2 victory over Cameroon. Before her U-15 & U-17 appearances, Zucchetto was a member of the Team Ontario Provincial Team from 2012-14 and won the Ontario Cup in 2011 & 2012.

ALEXIS RUSHLOW
Defender – Glendora, California / Glendora High School / Legends FC
Alexis Rushlow has rushed out to a fast start to her senior season at Glendora High School in Glendora, California. Through 14 games this season, she's racked up 17 goals and seven assists, which is over double her total combined during her sophomore and junior years. In each of the last two seasons, Rushlow has been honored with First Team All-League honors, while picking up Second Team accolades in 2014. On Jan. 9, she was awarded the SoCal Prep Legends Athlete of the Week after scoring twice in a span of 90 seconds. Through the first eight games of the year, Rushlow had scored twice in all but one contest.

KAMRYN BIRK
Midfielder – Katy, Texas / Cinco Ranch High School / Albion Hurricanes FC
Kamryn Birk is one of three teammates from the Albion Hurricanes FC joining this year's squad, along with Macy Chilton and Brianna Stewart. With her senior season upcoming, Birk is a three-year letterwinner at Cinco Ranch High School, where she earned 2016 District 19-6A Honorable Mention honors, while being named to the All-District 19-6A Second Team in 2015. While at Cinco Ranch, Birk has helped earn three-straight Texas state playoff berths, earning Region 3 titles and reaching the State semifinal in 2014, 2015 and 2016. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society at Cinco Ranch. Â

MACY HAIRGROVE
Defender – Castle Rock, Colorado / Rock Canyon High School / Real Colorado
Macy Hairgrove, one of the four in this year's signing class from outside of Texas, is a four-year letterwinner at Rock Canyon High School in Castle Rock, Colorado. Hairgrove picked up First Team All-Conference honors in the Continental League after helping Castle Rock to the second round of the 2016 Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) Soccer State Championships last season. She tallied two goals and one assist during her junior season and also earned all-conference honorable mention accolades in 2015. Hairgrove is a member of the Real Colorado club team in the ECNL, helping Real to the playoff finals in each of the last three seasons.

MACY CHILTON
Midfielder – Vidor, Texas / Vidor High School / Albion Hurricanes FC
Macy Chilton is one of three teammates from the Albion Hurricanes FC joining this year's squad, along with Kamryn Birk and Brianna Stewart, playing with the team from 2012-16. Chilton, a mid-year enrollee, comes to Texas Tech after graduating early from Vidor High School in Vidor, Texas, where she was a three-year letterwinner. Chilton was named captain of the Albion Hurricanes in 2016 and was selected for the 2016 ECNL Player Development Program, while being listed as the "Texas ECNL Players to Watch" list in 2015. In July 2015, she was the top goal scorer at the USYSA National Cup for the U-18 team, leading her team to the regional finals.

Brianna Stewart is one of three teammates from the Albion Hurricanes FC joining this year's squad, along with Kamryn Birk and Macy Chilton. Stewart, a three-year letterwinner at Seven Lakes High School, helped her team to earn the regional championship in 2015 and district title in 2016. In 2015, Stewart was named First Team All-District, while also garnering Academic All-District accolades in both 2015 & 2016. She also picked up District Newcomer of the Year in 2015. Defender – Southlake, Texas / Southlake Carroll High School / Dallas Texans
Brittany Martin joins fellow Southlake Carroll & Dallas Texans teammate Alexandria Griffin as Texas Tech signees in the 2017 class. Martin is a four-year letterwinner with the Dragons who picked up First Team All-District honors and was named to the Dallas Morning News All-Area Honorable Mention team after tallying seven goals and 13 assists in 2016. She was a key piece of the Dragon's defense that posted 16 shutouts and allowed just 15 goals last season. In 2015, she earned First Team All-Region accolades, while receiving Defensive MVP, helping the Dragons to an undefeated district season, a No. 2 national ranking and an area finalist playoff berth. On Jan. 4, Martin was named to the National Elite Prep Showcase "Players to Watch" list for 2017.

Midfielder – Richardson, Texas / Richardson High School / D'Feeters
Victoria Winship is a two-year letterwinner for Richardson High School at the midfielder slot. In her two years playing for Richardson HS, she earned Varsity Offensive Player of the Year in both seasons, while also picking up First Team All-District honors in year one and Second Team All-District in her second, tallying a goal and two assists over that stretch. Winship played four years with the D'Feeters Soccer Club, helping the squad to a playoff berth in the U-15 North American League in 2014.

Kayla Fithian is a three-year letterwinner for Georgetown High School in Georgetown, Texas. In 2016, Fithian was named to All-District second team, while earning her third of three-straight Academic All-District honors. She also notched Honorable Mention All-District accolades after her freshman season in 2014. As a member of the Lonestar FC since 2012, Fithian has helped her club to the U-15 North American League playoffs, the U-16 Champions League finals and the U-17 Showcase Cup.
