LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech will start the 2008-2009 golf season ranked #17 in the Golfweek preseason poll jumping up seven spots from last years final ranking of #24.

The Red Raiders return six letterwinners from last year's squad including all-conference players Garrett Merrell and Chris Ward. Four Big 12 schools are ranked in the top 30 of the Golfweek poll including Oklahoma State (#2), Texas A&M (#11) and Texas ( #27).

Tech will start the fall season off on Sept., 12th at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Rock Face, Ga.
