Baseball Set To Begin Team Practice On Friday

LUBBOCK, Texas - The 2008 Texas Tech Baseball Season will officially get underway on Friday, Feb. 1 as the Red Raiders begin team practices in preparation for the season opener against Northern Illinois on Feb. 22.
This is the first year that the NCAA has mandated an official start date for baseball team workouts as well as a standard opening day. All NCAA schools will begin workouts on Friday and the first official date for competition across the nation will be Friday, Feb. 22.
All Texas Tech team workouts will be held at Dan Law Field and are open to the public. Practices will commence at 2:15 p.m. Monday through Friday and will vary on the weekends.
Fans can tune into Robert Giovannetti and Chris Level on Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. as Tech Talk (Fox Talk 950 AM) will be carried live from Dan Law Field. The show will feature live interviews with Tech players and coaches as they prepare for the first official team workout of the season. Giovannetti will serve as the play-by-play announcer for the Red Raiders beginning this season and all 56 games of the regular-season and Tech's run through the post-season will be carried live on KKAM 1340, the flagship station of the Texas Tech Sports Network.
