NO. 23 TEXAS TECH HOSTS ABILENE CHRISTIAN TUESDAY
No. 23 Texas Tech (14-3) wraps up a six-game homestand hosting Abilene Christian on Tuesday, Mar. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. Tech and ACU face off for the first time since 2004 (W, 19-9) as the Wildcats moved to the NCAA Division I ranks this season with membership in the Southland Conference. The Red Raiders moved up in the national rankings (No. 23) this week after winning six straight games, including a perfect 5-0 record last week with a midweek win over New Mexico and sweeping a four-game series with New Mexico State over the weekend in Lubbock. Tech is off to its best start (through 17 games) since 2005 and has its longest home winning streak - 12 games - since the 2002 season when the Red Raiders won 13 in a row. Tech finished off New Mexico State with a 14-4 win on Sunday as the Red Raiders pounded out 14 hits, had five players with multi-hit games and senior Jonny Drozd picked up his first win of the season pitching three scoreless relief innings. Abilene Christian (7-6) won its final game last weekend with a 2-1 win at UT Arlington. The Wildcats are 1-2 on the road this season - last midweek the Wildcats played at Oklahoma for a midweek series going 0-2 (1-4, 1-3).
