Tech Primed for First Road Test

Track and field prepped for preview of nationals track.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Following a star-studded meet at home last weekend which saw 12 facility records fall, Tech's next test will come in the form of a new track. The Red Raiders will depart for Albuquerque for the NM Collegiate Classic.
The travel roster for Friday and Saturday's meet includes a small group making the quick trip to New Mexico's ABQ Convention Center in order to preview the future host facility of the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Â
Making the trip to Albuquerque will be third-ranked national triple jumper Ruth Usoro, whose last two weekends have seen her record the top two marks in program history. The school record went down at the Red Raider Invitational, where she landed a jump of 44'-3.25" (13.49m). She'll be joined in the sand pits this weekend by Chelsey Cole and Zuliat Alli, the latter of whom placed an exclamation point on her return from injury by long jumping a conference top-10 mark.
Â
Men's jumps will be led by Justin Hall, the second-ranked long jumper in the Big 12, and Jack Scarborough, who sits fourth in the conference in the high jump early in his sophomore campaign.
Â
The track will feature conference second-ranked 200m sprinter Ashton O'Conner, as well as Derrius Rodgers. The women will not travel a sprinter, opting instead to rest team leaders such as D'Jenne Egharevba, who last weekend ran two program top-10 times in the 60m and a top-10 time in the 200m.
Action in Albuquerque will take place Friday and Saturday at the ABQ Convention Center. This weekend's meet will be streamed on FloTrack. Live results will be available here.
