• Weather conditions at kickoff: Temperature: 38 degrees; Winds: N at 10 mph; Humidity: 44 percent; Conditions: Sunny.• Today's game marked the first time lowest temperature for the Red Raiders at kickoff since Texas Tech took part in the 2011 Ticket City Bowl held at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. It was 33 degrees at kickoff against Northwestern in the Ticket City Bowl. Today's temperature marked the second-lowest for Tech dating back to the 2000 season.

TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES
• Texas Tech has now scored in 243-straight games dating back to the 1997 season, a streak that ranks 11th nationally and second in the Big 12 Conference.• Texas Tech recorded just 306 yards of total offense, marking the first time since Nov. 19, 2011, where the Red Raiders have failed to post at least 325 yards of total offense. That streak made up 63-consecutive games which was previously the longest active streak in the FBS.
• Iowa State scored 45 points in the first half alone, which marked the second-highest total the Cyclones had scored against Texas Tech in series history.
• Iowa State's 66 points marked the most ever by the Cyclones against Texas Tech, breaking the previous mark of 52 that was set in a 52-38 victory in 2010.
• Iowa State's 56-point victory marked its largest ever in the series with Texas Tech. It was the largest loss by Texas Tech since falling by 55 points at then-No. 10 TCU in 2014.
• Texas Tech was held to just three points in the first half, marking the first time the Red Raiders had not scored a touchdown in the first half since facing Oklahoma State in 2011.
• The Red Raiders came into today's game in a tie for second nationally with a 54 percent conversion rate on third downs. Texas Tech converted just 4-of-14 attempts on third downs today for a season low percentage of 28.6%.
• Texas Tech completed a pass to just five players in the loss, a season low.
• Texas Tech committed just two penalties for only seven yards, continuing a recent streak where the Red Raiders have been among the least-penalized teams in the country. Tech has now recorded 10 penalties for 41 yards over the last four games combined. (Came in with 8 penalties for 34 yards)
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
• Patrick Mahomes completed 18-of-36 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown in the loss, marking just the third time this season where he has not thrown for at least 300 yards in a game.• Mahomes passed Seth Doege (2009-12) , moving into third all-time at Texas Tech in the category of career completions. He now has 827.
• Clayton Hatfield put the Red Raiders on the board midway through the first half with a successful 31-yard field goal. Hatfield is now 11-of-12 on field goal attempts this season and 25-of-28 over his career.
• Keke Coutee led the Red Raiders offensively as he caught eight passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. It was the third 100-yard receiving performance of Coutee's career as he also went for 130 yards earlier this year against Kansas State and 172 two weeks later versus Oklahoma.
• Da'Leon Ward took the bulk of carries for the Red Raiders as the true freshman finished with 97 yards off 25 carries. The performance marked the third time this season where Ward has rushed for at least 90 yards.
