All-Big 12 Softball Teams Announced

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech softball team had three players receive All-Big 12 honors, which was voted on by the league coaches. Sophomore outfielder Sandy Butler (Tucson, Ariz./Santa Rita) was an at-large selection to the first team, senior Kim Martinez (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) was second team at third base and senior designated player Aimee Weathers (La Habra, Calif.) was a second team at-large pick. The coaches' All-Big 12 team is set up like the national All-America team, which consists of an 18-member first and 18-member second team, broken down by positions with six at-large selections.
Butler, who is a two-time first team selection, currently leads the Red Raiders with a .310 batting average and 58 hits, while playing in all 58 games. She also has a .983 fielding percentage. For the second straight year, Martinez is a second-team pick who paces Tech with 10 homeruns. She has played in all 58 contests with 57 starts and is second on the team with a .298 batting average. Weathers currently has a .242 batting average, appearing in 52 games with 50 starts for the Red Raiders.
