Texas Tech’s licensing program protects and grows the brand through officially licensed products, retail opportunities, fan engagement and approved commercial uses. Since 1994, Texas Tech University has partnered with the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) to manage its trademark licensing program.
The program is administered by Texas Tech Athletics Licensing & Brand Management in partnership with CLC.

Review PoliciesCommercial products featuring Texas Tech trademarks must be produced by an officially licensed vendor and receive the appropriate design approval before production or distribution.
CLC works with Texas Tech University to review companies interested in producing officially licensed Texas Tech products. Applicants are evaluated based on product quality, market opportunity, distribution, business capabilities, compliance and other licensing considerations.
Create an account, complete the online application, provide the requested business information and pay the applicable application fee.
CLC reviews the submission and sends qualifying applications to Texas Tech for institutional review and a licensing decision.
Approved applicants complete licensing requirements, execute the agreement and submit Texas Tech artwork for approval before manufacturing product.
Approved licensees are responsible for complying with CLC and Texas Tech requirements, obtaining product and artwork approval before production, accurately reporting sales and royalties, and maintaining all applicable insurance and supply-chain requirements.

Texas Tech reserves the right to decline products or uses that are inconsistent with the university’s mission, reputation, brand standards, contractual obligations or licensing policies. Categories that will not be licensed include, but are not limited to:

Texas Tech Athletics and the broader university each maintain visual identity resources for their respective applications. Commercial use of Texas Tech trademarks remains subject to licensing, review and approval requirements.
The expanded Texas Tech Athletics identity system is anchored by the Double T and includes athletics marks, wordmarks, spirit marks, sport-specific assets, typography and approved color applications.
Official production artwork must be obtained through approved Texas Tech Athletics licensing and brand channels.
The beveled Double T remains the institutional mark for the broader university. Texas Tech University maintains official guidance for institutional logo use, colors, typography and broader university brand applications.

A trademark is any word, name, logo, symbol, slogan, nickname, design, character or other identifier used to distinguish Texas Tech University, Texas Tech Athletics or approved Texas Tech goods and services from other organizations or products.
Texas Tech University owns and protects its trademarks through federal and state registrations, common-law rights and ongoing brand use.
Commercial use requires approval. Products, promotions, co-branded items, NIL merchandise, retail goods, giveaways and other public-facing uses featuring Texas Tech marks must be reviewed and approved through the appropriate licensing process before production or distribution.
Unauthorized use of Texas Tech trademarks, or designs that may create confusion about sponsorship, endorsement, affiliation or approval by the university, may be subject to review and enforcement under Texas Tech’s trademark licensing policies.

Some Texas Tech marks are registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office or the State of Texas and may appear with the appropriate trademark symbol, such as ® or TM, depending on the mark, registration status, product type and approved use.
Licensees and vendors should use official artwork and trademark designations provided through approved licensing channels. Do not add, remove, recreate or alter trademark symbols without approval.
Federally registered examples may include: Texas Tech University, Wreck ’Em, Wreck ’Em Tech, Raiderland, Guns Up, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Carol of Lights, Double T logos, Vintage Masked Rider and Raider Red character marks.
State-registered examples may include: Texas Tech, Red Raiders, Lady Raiders, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Texas Tech Lady Raiders, Double T and Masked Rider marks, Texas Tech University System Seal, Texas Tech University Seal and other university identifiers.
Reproduction of registered marks identifying Texas Tech may not be used without the prior expressed written approval of the university. The requirements below help protect Texas Tech from unauthorized, misleading or inappropriate uses of its trademarks.
Products or materials using Texas Tech trademarks should be submitted for the appropriate review and approval before production. Merchandise must be produced through a current Texas Tech licensed vendor unless otherwise authorized.
Texas Tech University’s trademarks may not be reproduced, distributed or used without appropriate authorization. All uses of university marks must follow applicable Texas Tech licensing, brand and approval requirements.
Texas Tech departments, campus units and registered student organizations must follow the brand, affiliation, licensing and approval requirements applicable to their organization type.
Texas Tech University’s institutional visual identity is managed by the Office of Communications and Marketing. University departments and campus units should follow official university identity standards when using the institutional beveled Double T and other university brand elements.

Texas Tech trademarks may not be used by businesses, organizations or other outside entities without appropriate authorization. Approval to use a Texas Tech mark is specific to the approved purpose and does not imply a broader sponsorship, endorsement or affiliation with Texas Tech University or Texas Tech Athletics.
Official Texas Tech Athletics corporate partners may receive specific rights to use approved Texas Tech Athletics marks in connection with their sponsorship. Those rights are limited to the scope of the applicable agreement, and all executions must be reviewed and approved before production, publication or distribution.
Corporate Partner Logo Use Guidelines provide additional direction regarding advertising, co-branding, designation language, logo hierarchy, promotional products and other partner applications.
Any use of Texas Tech University trademarks that does not comply with the university’s licensing, approval or brand requirements is considered unauthorized and may violate federal or state law.
Texas Tech actively protects its trademarks and may take appropriate action when unauthorized use is identified. Depending on the circumstances, that action may include:
