LUBBOCK, Texas - Tickets remain on sale for the 1998 Hall of Honor Banquet scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Merket Alumni Center on the Texas Tech campus.
This year's inductees into the Hall of Honor include former Border Conference basketball standout Paul Nolen, women's track All-American Sharon Moultrie-Bruner, Raider Red creator Dirk West and PGA Senior Tour golfer John Paul Cain. The four inductees will bring the total number of members of the Athletic Hall of Honor to 94.
Nolen, at 6-10, helped set the stage for Texas Tech's entry into the Southwest Conference as a second-team All-American in men's basketball. Moultrie-Bruner was Texas Tech's first female All-American and was the school's first African-American homecoming queen. West, a former mayor of Lubbock, designed and drew the famous Raider Red cartoons for years. He also created Herbie, Nebraska's cornhusker mascot. Cain was a key member of championship teams in the Border and Southwest Conferences and he has had a successful career as an Amateur and profesional golfer.
Tickets are available for $25 each or a table of eight for $200. For information on the Hall of Honor Banquet, contact the Red Raider Club at 806/742-9772.
