Martinez Named NFCA All-Midwest

Martinez has made 61 starts in 62 games this season and is second on the team in batting with a .294 average entering NCAA regional competition tomorrow at Fresno State. The 5-foot-9 Sacramento, Calif., native has 55 hits on the season and leads the Big 12 with 15 doubles. She also leads Tech with 11 home runs. Martinez was named to the All-Big 12 Second team last week.
The Lady Raiders are in Fresno, Calif., this week, making the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Tech joins defending national champion Fresno State, South Carolina, Stanford, Pacific and Florida A&M in the regional. The No. 5-seed Lady Raiders open the event against No. 2-seed South Carolina on Thur., May 20, at 7 p.m. (CT).
