Stockton, California -
The hits just kept on coming for the Texas Tech softball team as they swept the University of Pacific in a doubleheader this afternoon in Stockton, California.
The Red Raiders were paced on the day by sophomore pitcher Amanda Renfro who tallied 15 strikeouts on the day while giving up just six hits. Renfro pitched both games on the day and brought her season ERA to 1.68.
Offensively, Tech was led by senior shortstop Paula Workman who had a field day at the plate racking up two homeruns to help lead the Red Raider scoring attack. Tech defeated the Tigers 1-0 in game one after a Kim Martinez single that scored Jenny Kohler in the top of the first inning. In game two, it was a pure slugfest as the Raiders combined for eight runs on 10 hits to shutout Pacific 8-0.
After taking Tuesday off, the team will return to action against Sonoma State on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. (PT).
Game 1 Notes:
Aimee Weathers made her first career start at firstbase. Junior Tamara Harrington was out due to a death in the family.
The game marked the first time the two teams have met since Tech restarted the program in 1996.
Texas Tech batters were hit by four pitches marking the most HBPs in a game in program history.
Game 2 Notes:
Paula Workman hit her fourth and fifth homeruns of the season.
