Reunion Set for Football Players from 1950s Era

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech athletic department announced today a reunion weekend for all football players from the decade of the 1950s. The events are scheduled to take place during homecoming weekend from Oct. 9-10 when the Red Raiders will play Oklahoma State University.
The weekend will include the following events:
Friday, Oct. 9
Morning, a golf tournament sponsored by the Texas Tech Lettermans Association6-8 p.m., an informal party at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel located at 5th St. and Ave. Q. There will be light snacks and a cash bar.
8-9:30 p.m., a sit down dinner at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel. Space is limited so reservations are recommended. Respond in advance to Gene Hamill or Buddy Barron at P.O. Box 6307, Lubbock, Texas 79493 or by phone at (806) 792-2193.
Saturday, Oct. 10
8 a.m., breakfast in the lettermans lounge sponsored by the Texas Tech Lettermans Association. This event is for lettermen only. A tour of the facilities will follow immediately after.
2 p.m., reception in the Formby Room in the new Southwest Collections Building (just northwest of the library) sponsored by Southwest Collections. On display will be game films from the 50s era including highlights from the 1954 Gator Bowl
6 p.m., homecoming game versus OSU at Jones Stadium. There will be a special pre-game recognition ceremony of all reunion members. Reunion members will receive two complimentary tickets, and additional tickets can be purchased for $26.
A block of hotel rooms at the Four Points Sheraton has been reserved for all members of the group. The cost is $79 a night for two people. Reservations can be placed by calling 1-800-3256-3535 and asking for the block under Tech Reunion. All reservations must be placed by Sept. 18.
