Texas Tech Softball to Open 1999 Season Against New Mexico

The Texas Tech Fastpitch Softball team opens the 1999 season on Saturday against the University of New Mexico Lobos in Albuquerque,NM.
The Red Raiders are coming off a record setting year in 1998 as they finished with an impressive 45-19 overall record and a fourth place Big 12 Conference finish. They climbed as high as #17 during the regular season and finished the year at #24.
After being denied an NCAA playoff birth last season, the Red Raiders are looking to make school history by advancing to post-season play. The first obstacle will come in the form of the New Mexico Lobos.
The Lobos are coming off a 23-40 1998 campaign and are coached by Susan Craig. The two teams face-off in a double-header on Saturday and wind up the series with a 10 a.m. matchup on Sunday.
Texas Tech is coached by Renee Luers-Gillespie.
