TEMECULA, Calif. - The Texas Tech women's golf team finished tied for 10th Wednesday in the Pioneer Electric Bruin Classic at the Menefee Lakes Country Club in Temecula, California. Red Raider junior Brooke Lowrance fired a two round total of 151 after an impressive first round, ending tied for 11th at the rain shortened event.
Thunderstorms canceled the second round Tuesday in the tournament originally scheduled to run three days. Lowrance posted a first round total of 73 to sit tied for first heading into today,s second and final round on the par 72, 6,019-yard course. Her second round 78 placed her six over at the event, and six strokes off of individual medalist Johanna Josefsson from the Univ. of Southern California.
As a team, the Red Raiders concluded competition tied for 10th with tournament hosts UCLA at 623. The squad was 23 strokes behind champion Tulsa.
Tech sophomore Alana Soliz fired a three-over 75 in the second round to jump from 30th and tie at 25th. Jamie Vannoy also hit an impressive second round, shooting just one over par and nine strokes better than the first day of competition. Texas Tech will return to the greens March 13-15 in the LSU-Fairwood Invitational in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
