Felver Joins Athletic Staff

LUBBOCK, Texas - John Felver has been named assistant athletic director for marketing and promotions at Texas Tech. Felver, who has already assumed his duties, comes to Tech from North Dakota State.
Felver is charged with securing corporate sponsorship revenue and increasing attendance at Red Raider sporting events through marketing and promotional programs. He replaces Byron Waters, who resigned in December to enter private business after nine years on the Texas Tech staff.
Serving as assistant athletic director since 1995 at North Dakota State, Felver increased marketing revenue by 230-percent and successfully negotiated a $5.1 million radio and television contract for Bison athletics. He designed marketing plans that produced national attendance leaders in five difference NDSU sports.
Previous athletic administration stops for Felver include serving as a marketing assistant at the University of Arizona from 1993-95 where he prospected and serviced corporate partners that contributed to a 500-percent increase in annual revenue. He was also was instrumental in redesigning a football priority point seating plan that generated additional revenue almost instantly.
The former Washington State wide receiver has also received ADDY and TELLY Awards in 1997 and 1998 for excellence in advertising. Felver, who is single, is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators and the National Association for Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
