LUBBOCK, Texas - Governor George W. Bush has designated Natalie Steadman, Texas Tech's assistant athletic director for sports health, as chair of the Texas Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers.
Governor Bush had previously appointed Steadman to a six-year term on the advisory board prior to her promotion to the chair position. She replaces Michael Saly of Conroe as chair. Saly will continue to serve on the board.
Steadman has been a member of the Texas Tech athletic staff for a dozen years, but began her association with Tech as a student trainer in 1986. She has served as director of sports medicine and head athletic trainer since 1996.
She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association and the American Physical Therapy Association. As an undergraduate at Texas Tech, Steadman earned the Heinz Reach Memorial Award, which salutes Texas Tech's outstanding physical therapy student.
Steadman holds bachelor's degrees from Texas Tech in physical education (1990) and physical therapy (1992). Her husband, David, is also a trainer on the Texas Tech staff.
