Big 12 Names 2,210 to Honor Roll

DALLAS- A total of 2,210 student-athletes, including 170 from Texas Tech representing all 17 sports, have been named to the Big 12 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the fall 1999 semester the league announced this week.
Acknowledging all student-athletes, the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll is an inclusive honor for all varsity sports sponsored by the membership of the league. The Honor Roll is recorded and released each semester and recognized those student-athletes who registered a 3.0 or better grade point average the previous semester.
Submitted through the Directors of Student-Athlete Support Services at each institution, those honored are not necessarily the stars on the field and court but those who participate on the team. They include the letterwinners and non-letterwinners and recognize every student-athlete who has excelled in the classroom.
The 2,210 total marks the fourth straight semester the Commissioner's Honor Roll has exceeded 2,000. A complete list of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll can be obtained via the Big 12 web site at www.big12sports.com or by calling Chris Theisen at (214) 742-1212.
