LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech dropped to sixth place following the second round of play at the Big 12 Conference Women's Golf Championships at the Lubbock Country Club Saturday afternoon. The Red Raiders trail tournament leaders Oklahoma State and Texas by 14 strokes.
The Cowgirls gained two strokes on the Longhorns on Saturday to force a tie atop the team standings. Oklahoma is one shot off the two teams, while Missouri is fourth and Nebraska fifth. Baylor follows Texas Tech in seventh place, while Texas A&M, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas State and Kansas round out the standings.
After a three-way tie between Maria Boden (OSU), Emma Zackrisson (OSU) and Betsy Berry (OU) in the first round, Missouri's Amelia Moses worked her way to the top of the individuals standings on Saturday, firing an even par 72. Moses holds a one-shot lead over Jennifer James (OU), Sarah Sasse (NU) and Zackrisson. Boden, the defending tournament champion, is four shots off the lead in a fifth-place tie.
Priscillia Hunt (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Red Raiders with a 74 and moved into a five-way tie at fifth place. She is four shots off the lead. Jennifer Newhouse (Bryan, Texas) is tied in 23rd place, followed by Stephanie Dukes (N. Richland Hills, Texas) in 25th and Jamie Vannoy (Sandy, Ore.) and Melanie Hunt (Phoenix, Ariz.) in 27th place.
The final round of the event tees off at 8 a.m. Sunday morning. Groups will tee off on holes #1 and #10.
