LUBBOCK, Texas - Softball Media Day
Head Coach Bobby Reeves
"I am looking forward to a great season this year. We open up against New Mexico State on February 3rd. We are going to play at Lubbock High due to weather and other delays that we have no control over."
"We come back in about five or six weeks and play (Texas) A&M on the 28th of March, and the field will be ready then. Hopefully, it will be ready then. With the way the weather has been this winter, it has been a hit and miss on a lot of things. Not with just the field getting prepared, but also with the workouts."
"We have a tough schedule this year, which was already set when I got here. It is a good schedule. We play in five tournaments after we get done with New Mexico State. We play several PAC-10 teams and SEC teams. It is something that is imperative that we do to get ready for the Big 12. The Big 12 is one of the best conferences in the nation."
"We're really excited. We have eight returning starters and three seniors. We have some great leadership. We hope to be right in the hunt."
"We have five freshmen. We have three transfers that will be a big part of our program. The freshmen are going to have to play a big role for us. They are doing a great job right now."
"Our number one goal is to survive. If we have a shortfall somewhere, it's going to be a depth in pitching staff. We have five tournaments right away. There is no way one pitcher can throw everything."
