Renfro Named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS, Texas - Texas Tech senior Amanda Renfro and Texas A&M's Kelly Ferguson have been chosen as the Big 12 Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week.
Renfro threw two shutouts and struck out 32 batters in 26 innings of work. The Houston righthander tossed a one-hitter in the 5-0 win against Oklahoma City. Renfro then threw both victories against Kansas over the weekend, which included a 1-0 shutout on Sunday. Renfro wins Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season. She ranks second in the Big 12 in earned run average at 0.90. Her 24 wins are the most in the league, as are her innings pitched at 241.1.
Ferguson hit .556 in three victories for Texas A&M last week. The Sugar Land, Texas, native who plays first base, also had two home runs and four RBIs. Her second homer of the week was the game-winning hit in the 3-2 victory against Iowa State. Ferguson had a 1.222 slugging percentage for the week and now leads the Big 12 with 37 RBI. Ferguson leads A&M with a .393 batting average, which is fourth in the Big 12. She leads A&M and is fourth in the league with six home runs this season and takes a five-game hitting streak into this weekend's games at Missouri.
