Red Raider Club Golf Set for Big Week

LUBBOCK, Texas - It's time to tee it up! The Red Raider Club is holding three golf tournaments over the next four days and, if history repeats itself, each event will be a success.
Tee-off for the Hereford RRC Tournament on Wed., May 30, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The day begins with an 11:30 a.m. lunch. Following the day's round, there will be a social hour at 5 p.m. with a catered dinner and auction beginning at 6 p.m. For more information on this event, please contact Dave Hopper at (806) 364-2290 or the Red Raider Club at (806) 742-1196.
Play gets underway at noon on Thur., May 31, for the Amarillo RRC Tournament at La Paloma Country Club in Amarillo. Registration and lunch begin at 11:15 a.m. A social hour will be held at the Amarillo Civic Center at 5:15 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:15. Red Raider head coach Bob Knight will be the featured speaker at the program and auction which begins at 7 p.m. For more information on the Amarillo golf tournament, please contact Michael S. Entries are still being accepted for what has grown into the biggest golf tournament in West Texas -- the 2001 Red Raider Open. Meadowbrook Golf Complex will host the two-man team scramble event on Sat., June 2. Sponsors receive a two-man team, a hole sponsorship sign and dinner (Friday night, June 1) with Texas Tech coaches Bob Knight, Marsha Sharp and Mike Leach. All entry fees cover range balls, cart, lunch and beverages, promotional items including two tickets to the Texas Tech-New Mexico football game and the chance to win a number of prizes. There will be shotgun starts at 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on both the Canyon and Creek courses. For more information, contact Meadowbrook at 765-6679.
