LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team will swing into spring action Mon.-Tue., Feb. 25-26, as it travels to San Antonio, Texas, to defend its title against 15 other schools at the University of Texas at San Antonio tournament.
Senior Kyle Willmann, junior Mark Hull and senior David Bolen return to compete in the UTSA tournament after the trio finished third, fourth and tenth, respectively, in the tournament's Top 10 individuals last season.
Lubbock native Brian Smith will also compete in the UTSA along with freshman Drew Hackler who will be competing in his first tournament as a Red Raider.
The men's golf team had a spectacular fall season under second year head coach Greg Sands claiming two team titles at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate and the SFA Crown Classic. The Red Raiders look to carry that momentum into their spring campaign as they gear up to defend their title at the UTSA next week.
"I have a good feeling that we will have success than pressure to defend our title," said coach Greg Sands. "I feel confident that we will play well and look forward to the tournament."
The Red Raiders will begin the first round of play Mon., Feb. 25th at 8:30 a.m. at the Oak Hills Country Club.
