LUBBOCK, Texas - One day after Mark Hull (San Antonio, Texas) shot five-under to open the tournament, senior Brooks Kelly (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) fired a four-under 66 on the par-70 Beach Course to help move Texas Tech into a four-way tie for fourth place at the 13th Annual Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Hilo, Hawaii.
Tech entered the second round in fifth place following the first day of action and finished round two tied with Houston, Oklahoma and Lamar. The four teams are eight shots back of tournament leader UCLA heading into the final round this morning. TCU and Arkansas are second and third, respectively.
In addition to Kelly's solid performance on Thursday, Hull and freshman Andrew Dresser (Carrollton, Texas) shot even par. Hull is currently in a six-way tie for second in the individual standings, including a tie with the nation's third-ranked player, Fresno State's Nick Watney. Kelly stands at 11th, while Dresser and Clint Diebert (Doylestown, Pa.) are 28th and 48th.
TCU's Adam Meyer leads the field by two strokes.
Texas Tech will tee off the third round today at 8 a.m. (local time). TEAM STANDINGS - Second Round (Division I National Rank) 1. UCLA (12) 554 2. TCU (3) 555 3. Arkansas (20) 558 4.
