LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's Andrew Dresser (Carrollton, Texas/Creekview) finished in the top 10 for the second-straight tournament and led Texas Tech to a fourth-place tie at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, La.
Dresser, tied in 19th place following the first two rounds, shot a final-round 70 to finish in a ninth-place tie. The Tech freshman posted his highest finish with a second-place tie at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio March 3. Dresser's tournament total of 214 tops his previous-best 54-hile total of 216 at the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate in February.
Mark Hull (San Antonio, Texas/Churchill) and Erik Stenman (Tampere, Finland) finished tied in 25th and 27th places, respectively. Hull turned in a 74 Tuesday and finished with a 220, while Stenman joined Dresser with a low round of 70 to finish with a 221. Brad Jacobson (Bryant, S.D./Hamlin) shot a 72 and finished two strokes behind Stenman in 40th place, while Brooks Kelly (Sierra Vista, Ariz./Buena) shot a 228 in 61st place.
Tech entered the final round in a ninth-place tie, but posted a 2-under 286 Tuesday to move into the top five. The round was the second lowest of the day next to Baylor's 285.
Despite tying with Baylor in fourth place, the Red Raiders finished ahead of Big 12 opponents Missouri (11th), Kansas State (12th), Kansas (13th) and Colorado (14th). SMU won the team title by three strokes over second-place Tulsa. Texas A&M, finishing ahead of Tech for the first time in four tries this year, claimed the third spot.
North Texas and Southern Miss tied in sixth place, followed by LSU (8th), Rice (9th) and tournament-host Louisiana-Lafayette (10th). Texas-San Antonio finished last in 15th place.
Texas Tech will next compete in the Cleveland Golf Championships in Aiken, S.C., March 18-19.
