Tech Softball Hosts #22 Texas A&M

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lady Raider softball team (13-23) hosts the Texas A&M Aggies (20-10) in conference opener tomorrow at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Rocky Johnson Field. Tech is coming off a 1-3 appearance at the Hokie Fastpitch Classic in Salem, Va.
Tech is led into the conference opener by freshman Arlene Newton batting .327 with a .582 slugging percentage. Newton logged a team high five runs and five RBI at the Hokie Fastpitch Classic including one homerun and three doubles. On the mound, Kristina Blair leads the pitching staff with a 1.96 ERA. Blair held Georgia State to only two hits and allowed no runs in a 10-0 Tech shutout.
This will be the 17th meeting between the Aggies and the Lady Raiders with A&M holding the series 9-7. The last time Tech hosted the Aggies was in 2001 when the #20 Aggies and Tech split the series.
