LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech athletic programs, in conjunction with the Student Athlete Advisory Board, have participated in numerous community events during this holiday season.
The SAAC went to each athletic team and collected approximately $500.00 in donations from their teams to adopt a family from the Lubbock community. The Adopt a Family program is done through the Salvation Army and provides families the opportunity to have their Christmas wishes come true. The SAAC was able to provide for their families wishes as well as added gifts from their donations. Keely Tucker, the SAAC president, Dani Nickle and Tara Browning led the group with the purchasing and the wrapping of all the gifts. The teams did an excellent job in collecting donations for the family.
Athletes also visited UMC hospital to hand out posters and autographs as well as spend time with the kids and families. They also visited the Ronald McDonald House to visit the families there and give them posters and company.
