Lubbock, Texas -
The No.51 Texas Tech women's golf team looks to take its momentum from a third place finish a week ago into San Antonio, Texas, for the Baylor Tapitio/Springs Shootout. The Lady Raiders' third place finish is their highest finish of the spring, the third top five of the year.
Tech is led by senior Jackie Ey and junior Sheila Mendez who both post a 77.33 stroke-average on the year. Juniors Kim Kolb(77.44) and Megan Hull(78.29), although behind Ey and Mendez, have combined to be Tech's top finishers in the last three tournaments.
The last time the Lady Raiders competed in the Baylor Tapitio/Springs Shootout was in 2001-02, when Tech finished first in a field of 20 teams. Coming into the weekend Tech will look to improve on its season ranking by competing against the 19-team field, including top-ranked teams and Big 12 foes No.30 Missouri and host No.39 Baylor.
The Lady Raiders will begin the 54-hole event Friday with a 7:30 a.m. split-tee start at the Tapitio Springs Golf Resort (par 72, 5,185 yards). Tech will shoot 18-holes each day of the tournament and will conclude competition Sunday
