LUBBOCK, Texas - After splitting its Big 12 Conference opening series over the weekend, Texas Tech softball welcomes the New Mexico State Aggies to Rocky Johnson Field on Wednesday afternoon for a doubleheader with games at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The Lady Raiders (17-20; 1-1 Big 12) have posted an 11-5 mark in the month of March and have been led by the surging Elyssa Sigala who is batting .404 with eight home runs and 26 RBI and Kelly Rhyne who is hitting .357 with two home runs and 21 RBI. Sigala is currently riding a school-record 21 game hitting streak, dating back to Feb. 22 against Southeastern Louisiana.
Pitchers Erin Crawford and Julie Hauck are pacing the team in the circle with team leading 2.15 ERA's. Crawford leads the team with eight wins and picked up the win in the team's conference opening win over Iowa State on March 27th.
New Mexico State enters the game with a 9-28 overall mark and has not begun play in the Sun Belt Conference. The teams have played each other three times this season. The Aggies took the opening game, a 4-0 decision, in the season opening Bobcat Softball Classic in San Marcos, Texas, in early February. The Lady Raiders would get revenge, sweeping a doubleheader in Las Cruces, NM, earlier this month, 5-3 and 7-0.
