LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas A&M took advantage of several Lady Raider defensive miscues and pounded out 11 runs on 13 hits as the Aggies defeated Texas Tech softball 11-1 at Rocky Johnson Field on Saturday night.
Texas A&M (27-16; 9-1 Big 12) got on the board in the top of the third inning. With runners on first and third, Lisa Lawler threw wildly to third on a pick-off attempt allowing the run to score from third and give the Aggies a 1-0 lead.
The Aggies struck again in the top of fourth, batting around to score five runs on five hits and taking advantage of three Tech errors. In the fifth, Texas A&M would add another run and follow that by plating four runs in the sixth.
For the second game in a row, Tech (19-29; 1-10 Big 12) committed six errors defensively in a game and allowed seven unearned runs. The Lady Raiders allowed had six errors in game two of Thursday's doubleheader against Texas.
Texas Tech softball will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they close out the series with the Aggies at Rocky Johnson Field at 1 p.m.
