Red Raider Softball Heads to New Mexico

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Red Raiders are headed to New Mexico to play in the New Mexico Tournament. Tech will face New Mexico, New Mexico State and Liberty. The Red Raiders are now 12-9 on the season and after 21 games, are off to the best start for Tech softball since 2001.
Tech is coming off a 4-1 weekend of tournament play at the Wichita State Tournament in Wichita, Kansas. The Red Raiders were lead by senior Natalie Enderlin at the plate as she went 9 for 19 with two RBI and one homerun over the weekend. Freshman Jennifer Bowers also had a batting average of .500 as she went 7 for 14 with four RBI.
The pitching staff was lead by junior Erin Crawford who started three games over the weekend and posted an ERA of 1.29. Crawford pitched 14 innings with 10 strikeouts and five walks. Senior Keely Tucker pitched the only complete game for the Red Raiders against No. 19 Nebraska. Tucker pitched nine innings over the weekend with three strikeouts and three walks.
SCOUTING TEXAS TECH
On the season, the Red Raiders are lead by Enderlin who is batting .365 with three homeruns and seven RBI. Also hot at the plate is freshman Jennifer Corkin who is batting .333 with two homeruns and 17 RBI. The Red Raiders are lead in the circle by Crawford who has an ERA of 2.87 in 59.2 innings of work. Crawford has a 7-4 record with 50 strikeouts and 14 walks.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
New Mexico is 15-5 on the season and is lead by Ryanna Hodgins who is batting .375 with eight RBI. Also at the plate for the Lobos is Kristi Schmallen who has posted a batting average of .289 with one homerun and three RBI. In the circle the Lobos are lead by Ashley Perkins who has a record of 2-7 this season. Perkins has posted an ERA of 3.68 in 78 innings of work. Perkins has totaled 75 strikeouts and 43 walks.
New Mexico State is 11-4 on the season and is lead by Stacy Knight who is batting .358 with three homeruns and 21 RBI. The Aggies also have Sarah O'Neill at the plate who is batting .351 with five homeruns and 24 RBI. In the circle the Aggies are lead by Sarah Seagraves who has a record of 7-9 and an ERA of 4.17 in 101.1 innings of work. Seagraves has totaled 104 strikeouts and nine walks.
Liberty is 8-8 on the season and is lead by Jessica Moore who is batting .510 with six homeruns and 17 RBI. Also at the plate for the Flames is Shannon McKain who is batting .321 with one homerun and eight RBI. In the circle the Flames are lead by Sarah Swor who has a record of 3-6 on the season. Swor has posted an ERA of 1.97 in 60.1 innings of work and has totaled 66 strikeouts and 28 walks.
