LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf squad will take part in the elite Isleworth Collegiate in Windemere, Fla., as they wrap up their fall slate beginning on Sunday, October 22nd. The three-day tournament will consist of 18 of the nation's top golf squads. Play will begin at 9 a.m. CT each day as one round will be played Sunday through Tuesday. THE COURSE
Isleworth's magnificent greens, fairways, and lakes are a sight to behold, but beyond their beauty lies a golf challenge unlike any other. Isleworth is consistently ranked the longest and toughest course in the state by the Florida State Golf Association (FSGA), proving to challenge the NCAA's best players. From its back tees, dubbed the Tiger Tees, Isleworth measures 7,544 yards with a slope of 142 and a rating of 77.5. Originally designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay with a re-design by Steve Smyers in 2003, Isleworth's course demands precise drives and accurate short game shots.
At the 2005 Isleworth Collegiate Invitational, the scoring average during the first 36 holes was a respectable 75. However, on the day following Hurricane Wilma, conditions worsened, winds topped 25 mph and white caps covered the Butler Chain of Lakes. The scoring average rose to almost 81 and not a single player broke par - Isleworth was living up to its reputation.

ISLEWORTH COLLEGIATE FIELD
The competitive field at the third edition of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational makes this event one of the toughest competitions of the season. All 18 teams competing finished in the top 50 in last year's final Golfweek/Sagarin ratings. Not only were they rated high at the end of 2005-06, but all but one were listed on Golfworld's Preseason Coaches Poll that was released in early September.
Oklahoma State comes in as the team to beat as the squad was rated first in last year's final poll and this year's preseason rankings. They are currently fifth on the Golfweek/Sagarin performance index. Four other teams are currently in the top 10 in Golfweek's poll: No. 2 Florida, No. 4 Clemson, No. 7 Tennessee and No. 8 Georgia. The following are listed in the top 25: North Carolina (11), Georgia State (14), Texas A&M (17), Georgia Tech (18), Duke (19), Wake Forest (20) and Texas Tech (25). Rounding out the field are No. 64 Arizona, No. 32 host Central Florida, No. 33 Florida State, No. 49 Kentucky, No. 39 South Carolina and No. 58 Texas.
Tech has already faced 13 of the other 17 teams competing, as they have compiled a 7-11 (.389) record against them. The Red Raiders have wins against Arizona, Texas A&M, Texas, South Carolina and Georgia State. Meeting Texas Tech for the first time will be Big 12 opponent Oklahoma State, host Central Florida, Kentucky and Florida State.
