Tucson, Ariz. - Texas Tech softball concluded play at the 2006 Worth Wildcat Invitational on Sunday with 5-2 loss to North Carolina State at Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium. The loss drops the Red Raiders' overall record to 3-8, while NC State improves to 8-4 this season.
During the contest, Texas Tech was able to take the first lead, scoring on a RBI single from Brandy Moulin in the top of the first inning, but the Wolfpack were able to take control of the game with three runs off Tech starter Julie Hauck in the bottom of the second inning and two more runs off reliever in home half of the third frame off reliever Sarah Losleben.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Red Raiders were able to get one of the runs back as junior centerfielder Ashley Parker reached on an error and after stealing both second and third came around to score her second run of the game on a RBI single by first baseman Jennifer Corkin.
Corkin finished the day as Tech's best hitter with a pair of hits including her second double of the year.
Texas Tech softball is back in action next weekend as they take to the road again as they travel to Palm Springs, Calif., for a tournament.
