Women's Golf in Third Place after Round One

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Texas Tech women's golf team got its spring season off to an impressive start on Monday as the Lady Raiders turned in a team round of 301 to end the first round of the University of Central Florida Invitational in third place.
In addition to the team's success, junior Marla Troester fired a first round 71 to close the day in a four-way tie for first place individually. Senior Ashley Slavich was also strong in the first round, finishing in 12th place after turning in a first round 74.
Freshman Gloriana Soto, who logged the Lady Raiders' only top 25 finish of the fall season, sits in a tie for 28th place along with teammate Christine Kovalcik after both players turned in a 78-stroke opening round. Redshirt freshman Megan Dowdy shot a first round 39 on Monday in route to a round total of 81.
Playing as individuals, freshman Brynn Anderson tallied a round of 78 to open the event, while fellow rookie Ulrika van Kiekerk turned in an 81 stroke total.
