ORLANDO, Fla. - Hoping to get their spring season off to a hot start, the Texas Tech women's golf team did just that on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for third place at the University of Central Florida Invitational held at Stoneybrook Country Club in Orlando, Fla. The finish is the highest of the year for the Lady Raiders.

Junior Marla Troester paced Tech in the event, finishing with a 146 stroke total at the two-round tournament to earn a third place finish, the first top-five finish of her career.

Junior Christine Kovalcik also earned a career first at the tournament, notching her first ever top-25 finish by turning in a final-round 77 to place in a tie for 23rd overall. Freshman Gloriana Soto was not far behind, closing the event with a 158 stroke total to place in a tie for 35.

Senior Ashley Slavich and redshirt freshman Megan Dowdy each posted identical totals of 159 at the event to finish in a tie seven-way tie for 39th.

Competing as an individual, freshman Brynn Anderson also posted the highest finish of her young career, placing in a tie for 31st place after shooting a second-round 79 to close the tournament with a total of 157. Also competing as an individual, fellow freshman Ulrika Van Niekerk turned in a two-round total of 164 to end the event in 54th place.
