Tech Men's Golf Riding High into Big 12 Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas - Riding the high of a unbelievable comeback win at the Aggie Invitational to give the team two wins in its last four tournament the Texas Tech men's golf team will travel to Tulsa, Okla., over the weekend to prepare to take part in the 2006 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship hosted by Southern Hills Country Club.
The tournament will begin on Monday with the first 36 holes of the event and the Red Raiders are slated to begin on the 10th tee at 8:50 a.m.
The course, which has played host to two major PGA Tour events including the 2001 U.S. Open, was established in 1936 and laid out by golf course designer Perry Maxwell and renovated by Keith Foster in 1999.
Texas Tech is currently ranked 14th by Golfweek and 16th in the Golfstat rankings, where they remained this week. Tech's two wins this season match the highest single-season win total in school history.
Junior Oscar Floren climbed into the ninth position after winning his second tournament in his last four outings last weekend. Floren ranks 10th in the latest Golfstat rankings and is eighth nationally with a 71.19 stroke average. His three wins this season tie him for the most in a single-season at Tech with former All-Southwest Conference performer Bryan Novoa, who won three tournaments during the 1995-96 season.
