AMES, Iowa - Sarah Losleben (5-8) tossed a complete-game shut out scattering seven Cyclone hits and striking out four to lead Texas Tech to a 5-0 win over Iowa State in Big 12 softball action. The Red Raiders snapped a season-high eight-game skid with the win and improve to 18-21, 1-7 on the season, while the Cyclones fall to 22-31, 1-7.
The Red Raiders scored two runs in the first when Ashley Parker led the game off with a bunt single. She stole second and advanced to third on an errant throw (to second) by the Cyclone catcher, Ashley Killen. A ground ball by Devin Zaragoza was good enough to score A. Parker as the play at the plate was late. A one-out single by first baseman Brandy Moulin advanced Zaragoza to third. Zaragoza scored on a ground ball out by Jennifer Corkin.
Tech opened things up in the sixth when Zaragoza singled, moved to second on a Whitney Riley ground ball to the pitcher and scored when Brandy Moulin drilled a double to left center field. Corkin legged out an infield single, Jennifer Bowers followed with a shot off the pitcher, Alyssa Ransom, for a single which scored Moulin and chased Ransom. Amie Ford relieved her and was greeted with an RBI double by third baseman Brooke Neuman off the wall in left, scoring Liz Eimen (pinch-running for Corkin) and extending the Tech lead to 5-0.
Texas Tech hosts Kansas in their final home series weekend of the 2007 season, next Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22. Senior day activities for the Red Raiders' four veteran players: Natalie Kula, Brandy Moulin, Ashley Parker and Heather Parker.
