LUBBOCK, Texas - Rejuvenated after taking a weekend off, the Lady Raider tennis team kicks off conference play as they hit the road for a pair of back-to-back matches. Tech first travels to Lincoln, Neb., to face the No. 58 Cornhuskers on Fri., March 14, followed by a trip to Ames, Iowa, to take on the Cyclones on Sat., March 15.
In their last trip on the road the Lady Raiders split a pair of matches. Tech began the weekend upsetting SMU, 5-2, but were swept by No. 15 TCU the next day, 7-0. Head Coach Cari Groce continues to find combinations within her roster, with this weekend's line-up no exception. Freshman Kelsy Garland will make her debut in the No. 1 singles spot, while the senior duo of Janet Durham and Brenna Jackson will make an appearance in the No. 1 doubles position.
Last season Tech stole a 4-3 victory from Nebraska by clinching the doubles point, tying the series record between the two at eight all. The Huskers are led by senior Imke Reimers, who is currently ranked among the top 100 singles players in the nation. The Raiders dominate the series over the Cyclones, 13-0, after a 6-1 victory at the McLeod Tennis Center last season.
Friday's match between Tech and Nebraska is scheduled for 1 p.m.
