On Saturday, participants and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. There will be a donation box at the front desk of the Green Tennis Center all weekend for those interested. Additionally, pink "Ace for a Cure" tournament t-shirts will be on sale for $10, with the proceeds benefiting cancer research. After play on Saturday, all participants will attend a luncheon with a guest speaker to discuss breast cancer awareness and early detection.
The nation's top collegiate tennis players are slated to compete in the ITA's first women's national event of the 2009-2010 season, as the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships begin this weekend. On October 3 and 4, Kelsy Garland (Jr) will compete in the Prequalifying Singles and in Prequalifying Doubles with Elizabeth Ullathorne (Fr). UCLA will host the prequalifying rounds.
There are 64 competitors in Prequalifying Singles and a player must win three rounds to advance to the Qualifying Round.
