LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's Ulrika Van Niekerk shot a 76 and sits tied for 15th and the women's golf team is in 12th place after the first day of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
The Lady Raiders a 27-over 315 and is only 12 strokes off the lead. Georgia and TCU are in first place shooting 302.
Ulrika Van Niekerk led the Lady Raiders with an opening round 76 and sits tied for 15th. Megan Dowdy is tied for 22nd with a 77. In 47th place is Alex Gibson after an eight-over 80 and Gloriana Soto carded an 82 and is in 63rd. Rosalyn Kim shot an 12-over 84 and is tied for 74th.
Tech will resume play tomorrow at 9 a.m. EST at Coco Beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
