Red Raiders Drop Conference Opener

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech softball dropped both games of its home opening series to No. 9 Oklahoma, 6-1, and 12-0, Tuesday afternoon at Rocky Johnson Field.
The Sooners scored the first run of the afternoon on a single by Lindsey Vandever to score Evan Sallis to make the score, 0-1. In the second, Red Raider Elizabeth Eimen singled and advanced to second on an error by the Sooner pitcher. Jennifer Lee followed up with a successful sacrifice to move Eimen to third, who on double by Emily Bledsoe to tie the game at one.
Oklahoma regained the lead in the fourth scoring four runs on four Sooner doubles to make the score, 1-5. Texas Tech would threaten in the sixth, but was unable to get any runs across the plate. Oklahoma added a run in the seventh on a wild pitch. Texas Tech put up seven hits, but left seven on base. Legler went 2-2, and Emily Bledsoe with 1-3 with a double and an RBI. Alex Watkins was charged with the loss, and moved to 0-6 on the season.
In game two, Oklahoma got off to a strong start scoring two runs in the first to take an early lead, 2-0. Designated player Lee would double for the Red Raiders in the first. The Sooners would add four more in the second on a pair of two RBI singles by Vandever and Chana'e Jones making the score, 6-0. Tech would allow another run in the third on a Samantha Ricketts solo home run upping the score to, 7-0. The Red Raiders gave up five more in the fourth on a single by Jones, and two two-run home runs by Haley Anderson and Amber Flores.
Megan Shupp singled in the seventh, but Tech was unable to rally giving Oklahoma the win, 12-0.
