Red Raiders Close Out With A Win

SAN DIEGO - Texas Tech softball (10-24) defeated the University of San Diego (5-20), 2-1, to close out its ten game road swing in San Diego, Calif. Stephanie Drewry went 3-4, while Megan Shupp added two hits of her own. With the win, Tech has won two out of its last three games and improved to 10-24 on the season.
The Red Raiders got on the board early, when Leah Legler drew a walk and scored on an error by the San Diego third baseman to make the score, 1-0. Tech added another run in the second when Megan Shupp singled, and advanced to third on an Emily Bledsoe double. Holley Gentsch picked up the RBI on a sacrifice fly to score Shupp to up the score to, 2-0. The Toreros added a run in the bottom of the frame on a double and a single to pull within one, but were unable to overcome the Tech's lead losing, 2-1.
Drewry went 3-4 on the day, while Shupp went 2-4. Bledsoe and Alex Watkins each had a double. Pitcher Ashly Jacobs got the start and win for the Red Raiders in the complete game striking out seven, and improving to 7-11.
