Red Raiders Downed By Cyclones

AMES, Iowa - Battling snow and cold temperatures, Iowa State picked up its first Big 12 win of the season dropping Texas Tech, 7-2, Saturday afternoon.
The Red Raiders (10-27, 0-6) opened up the scoring in the first inning scoring a run on a Megan Shupp double. Iowa State came right back in the bottom half of the inning, when Alex Johnson hit a home run over the center field wall to take the 2-1 lead. Iowa State added to its lead in the fifth when Kelsey Kidwell hit an RBI double.
Alex Watkins hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth, but the Cyclones responded getting four runs in the bottom of the frame. Amanda Bradberry led the rally for the Cyclones, with her first home run of the season.
Ashly Jacobs (7-15) took the loss for the Red Raiders, allowing seven runs on seven hits.
