LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team is in 15th place after Jackie Smith shot a 146 and her score has her tied for 15th at the Mountain View Collegiate held in Tucson, Ariz.
The Lady Raiders shot a 311 in round one and improved to a 299 in round two. The 36-hole total of 610 has the squad in 15th. San Jose State leads the tournament with a 571 after two rounds.
Smith shot a four-over 76 in her first round. She improved by six strokes in round two with a two-under 70. The sophomore's low round of the year propelled her into a tie for 15th.
Senior Megan Dowdy carded a 155 after two rounds shooting a two-over 74 in round two. The senior is tied for 60th.
Senior Ulrika Van Niekerk shot a 78 in both the first and second round. She is tied for 65th with a 156.
Sophomore Robyn Scott shot a 79 in round one and turned around in round two carding a 77. She tied with van Niekerk in 65th.
Junior Rosalyn Kim shot a six-over 78 in the first round and then a round two 79 for a total of 157 after 36 holes. She is tied for 74th.
Tech will play the final round of the Mountain View Colegiate at 8 a.m. (MST) tomorrow morning.
