Fighting Irish Too Much For Texas Tech

LAS VEGAS - Texas Tech softball lost to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, 0-5, at the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas to fall to 6-16 on the season. Stephanie Drewry and Leah Legler had the only hits on the day for the Red Raiders, and Alex Watkins pitched three scoreless innings in the loss.
Notre Dame got on the board first scoring four runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead, and added another run in the third to make the score, 5-0. The Tech bats remained quiet, recording only two hits on the day one each from Legler and Drewry.
The Red Raiders would load the bases in the sixth inning, but was unable to bring a runner across. Notre Dame took the victory, 5-0, to improve to 6-5 on the season.
Texas Tech will open Big 12 Conference play on Tuesday as they host the University of Oklahoma in an afternoon double header. Fans can follow the action live at www.texastech.com
