TECH JUMPS TO SIXTH IN FINAL ROUND IN AUSTIN

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 10 Texas Tech men's golf team moved up to sixth place after shooting 301 in the final round of the Morris Williams Intercollegiate held at the University of Texas Golf Club's par-71 course in Austin, Texas.
Sophomore Chris Ward (McKinney, Texas), started the day off in sixth, but carded a 77 on his final round to drop three spots. Senior Garrett Merrell (Dallas, Texas), shot a final round five-over 76 to finish tied for 19th.
Junior Will Griffin (San Antonio, Texas), played his best round of the tournament, turning in a two-over 73 to place tied for 27th. No. 17 ranked freshman Nils Floren (Ljungstile, Sweden), shot his best round as well after shooting a four-over 75 and finished tied for 42nd.
Senior Santiago Rivas (Cali, Columbia), injured for the first two rounds, carded a 79 in his only round of competition.
Redshirt freshman Brian Scherer (Midland, Texas), finished tied for 67th, playing as an individual, after a final round of 81.
Tech finished in sixth place with a three-day score of 904. Oklahoma State dominated tournament shooting an 863 and beating the field by 25 strokes. Arkansas¸ Southern California, Texas and TCU finished second through fifth, respectively.
