Red Raiders Finish Eighth at Aggie Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's struggles continued Sunday in the final round of the Aggie Invitational as the No. 12 Red Raiders finished in an eighth-place tie with New Mexico in the rain-shortened event at Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas.
Santiago Rivas and Chris Ward both tied in 21st place to lead Tech, each posting two-round totals of 4-over 148s. Will Griffin finished tied in 34th place after shooting a 150, while Sergio Franky carded a 152. Nils Floren, the nation's No. 31 ranked golfer, tied in the 49th slot with a 153 and Garrett Merrell filed a pair of 77s for a 154 and a 54th-place tie.
The Red Raiders' eighth-place showing was the team's lowest since finishing eighth at the UH-Hilo Intercollegiate in early February. In the last four tournaments, Texas Tech totaled two wins and a pair of sixth-place finishes.
Oklahoma State claimed team honors with a 6-under 714, while tournament-host Texas A&M (717) came in second. Ohio State (741) finished third and San Diego State and TCU (744) tied for fourth. Kent State (745) and Lamar (746) finished sixth and seventh, while Baylor (761), Wichita State (763) and Kansas (780) were 10th through 12th.
Texas Tech will next compete in the Big 12 Men's Golf Championships at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan., April 27-29.
