Tech Playing in Canes & Cardinal Classic in Miami

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team is playing in the Ryder Canes & Cardinals Classic starting at tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. (EST) at the par 72 6,223 yard, Don Shula's Golf Resort in Miami Lakes, Florida.
Twelve teams will be competing in the tournament as the field includes Boise State, Akron, Miami (Fla.), Maryland, Penn State, Middle Tennessee, Cincinnati, Texas State, Washington State, Princeton and No. 16 San Jose State.
Sophomore Jackie Smith is coming off her best performance of the year after the Mountain View Collegiate. Smith shot a low round of 70 during the tournament and placed tied for 18th. Senior Megan Dowdy has the best stroke average of the season at 75.3.
Senior Ulrika Van Niekerk will be playing in her 10 tournament of the season. Van Niekerk has a 75.5 stoke average on the season.
Junior Rosalyn Kim is playing some of the best golf of her career. This spring she has finished in the top 10 twice. Sophomore Alex Gibson has played in eight tournaments this year and tied for 24th her last time out at the UNLV Invitational.
The first and second round will be played tomorrow starting at 8:30 a.m. (EST) and the final round is scheduled for Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. (EST)
