Texas Tech Set To Face The Aggies In College Station

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Winning three out of its last five, Texas Tech softball travels to College Station to face the Texas A&M Aggies in a Big 12 Conference matchup. Friday's game is set to be played under the lights with a start time of 6:30 p.m. CT, while Saturdays game is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT.
Watkins Lets Loose
Senior Red Raider Alex Watkins is currently on a six-game hitting streak, and has a hit safely in 11 out of the last 12 games. Watkins has 15 hits, 12 RBIs, four doubles, and four home runs over the course of those 12 games.
The Number Don't Lie
Seniors Alex Watkins, Megan Shupp, and Elizabeth Eimen have drastically improved their offensive production since 2008. Watkins batted .150 in 2008 and is currently hitting .333, while Shupp batted .245 and is currently hitting. 279. Eimen has seen the most improvement, after hitting a cool .186 last year, she has turned that into a hot .371 so far this season.
Legler Lands On All-Time Hits List
Junior Leah Legler has climbed to ninth all-time on the Texas Tech hits list with 132, passing Devin Zaragoza with 128.
Drewry Ropes First Career Triple
Freshman Stephanie Drewry roped her first ever triple against Kansas into the right field corner.
Tech Trio In Top Ten
The Texas Tech trio of Stephanie Drewry, Elizabeth Eimen, and Leah Legler have landed on the top ten list of hits in the Big 12. Drewry and Eimen have 46 good for fourth best, while Legler has 43 good for tenth best. Tech is the only other school besides Baylor to have three players in the top ten.
Scouting Texas A&M
Texas A&M enters this weekends series with an overall record of 24-15 and 2-5 in the Big 12 Conference. The Aggies most recently split a mid-week series with Oklahoma State, winning game one , 2-1, before getting run-ruled by the Cowgirls in game two, 13-1 (5). A&M is led by Natalie Villareal hitting .349 with 38 hits and 16 RBIs. In the circle, the Aggies are anchored by Rhiannon Kliesing with a record of 15-10 and an ERA of 2.24. Texas A&M leads the all-time series 11-19, and has won 10 out of the last 13.
