LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's golf coach JoJo Robertson added two names to her 2011-12 roster late Wednesday with the signings of Elin Arvidsson and Mattie Tobey to national letters of intent.
"We couldn't be happier to have Elin and Mattie join the Texas Tech program," Robertson said. "Both of them have had success at the junior level, and we hope that translates well here. They are both quality individuals and we are very excited to now call them Lady Raiders."
A native of Falkenberg, Sweden, Arvidsson will arrive at Tech as one of the top junior golfers in her country. She is currently ranked third among Swedish players in her age class and has represented Sweden at the European Ladies Championship held in the Czech Republic.
Arvidsson finished second at the Swedish National Junior Championship Match Play event and has four top-three finishes this season. Her older brother, Crhstoffer Arvidsson is a junior for the University of Arkansas golf team.
Tobey also brings a wealth of amateur experience to Tech as the Denver, N.C. native claimed the 2010 AJGA Palmetto Junior Classic held in Columbia, S.C. She has also finished second at the 2010 Big I Qualifier and the Carolina Girls Match Play event.
One of the more consistent players in the state of North Carolina, Tobey has recorded seven top-10 finishes in Carolina Golf Association of AJGA tournaments this year and has also notched a second-place finish in the North Carolina state tournament at the A, AA, and AAA levels. Like Arvidsson, Tobey's older brother, Ben Tobey, is a sophomore on the men's golf team at Pfeiffer University.
